Lemon Syrup for 7UP Cake

1/2 stick unsalted butter

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup lemon juice


  1. In a medium saucepan, add all ingredients and cook over medium heat for 10-15 minutes or until sugar has dissolved and butter has melted.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Pour over cake while it's still in the cake pan.
  4. Allow for the syrup to be completed absorbed for 15-20 minutes prior to turning out onto a serving tray or plate.
  5. Alternative soaking method:
  6. Place cake on a cooling rack.
  7. Poke holes in cake with a scewer to allow penetration of syrup.
  8. Slowly pour syrup over cake, allowing time for it to be absorbed before adding more syrup.
  9. Allow cake to cool completely before serving.
